Understanding AMF

You should have a sense for how the overall AMF approach works. Take a look through the Meta-Model description to get a sense of that. Don't worry about too much about the details.

You can create an Escape project following these steps: AMP/Running_Examples#Creating a New Escape Project

You can also look here for a tutorial that set's up an Ascape and Simphony project [1] (Same caveats as below.)
