Location Industry Working Group
Location technology is technology for tracking, analysing, and visualizing relative location measured in some dimensions. This technology can be applied to space and time such as on earth. It is also often used for circuit design, warehouses, and other arbitrary dimensions.
Initiative Goals
- Collaborate on location related research
- Share costs, risks, and benefits to develop and sustain reusable commodity & innovative location technology
- Drive increased adoption of location technology, and adoption of reference implementation standards based technology
- Joint marketing, events
Areas of Interest
- Software/libraries for processing big data with location elements
- Evolution of the spatial database
- Data exchange standards
