What is IHE?

IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information. IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as DICOM and HL7 to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care providers to use information more effectively.

Connectathon 2006

Though things have changed, it is good to newcomers to take a look at the results of the '06 connectathon in order to get a feeling of what they are heading to.

Aug 15 – Sep 30, 2006 Telephone interviews conducted by Technical Project Manager for each Connectathon system. No system can complete registration without a 15 minute telephone interview with the Connectathon Technical Project Managers (Moore, Felhofer).

Electronic registration for Connectathon opens; paper registration for Connectathon 2007, HIMSS 2007 and ACC 2007 are based on electronic registration. Electronic registration: http://ihe-kudu.wustl.edu/na2007

Sep 15, 2006 All registration for NA 2007 closes. By this date, you should have completed:
  • Electronic registration for Connectathon
  • Sent paper contract with payment to RSNA for Connectathon
  • Sent paper contract with payment to HIMSS (if applicable)
  • Sent paper contract with payment to ACC (if applicable)
Oct 1, 2006 Class A MESA results are due. This is for all participants in NA 2007 Connectathon. (Classes of MESA tests are explained in Appendix A). Enter these in Kudu (http://ihe-kudu.wustl.edu/na2007).
Oct 13, 2006 HIMSS 2007 Interoperability Showcase Demonstration Managers meet to define demonstration groups. Demonstration groups to be presented at participant meeting Oct 19-20.
Oct 1-15, 2006 Sometime during these two weeks, a Webex will be scheduled to go over Connectathon process.
Oct 19-20, 2006 Two day mandatory meeting for participants involved in ACC 2007 and HIMSS 2007 Interoperability Showcase demonstrations. Nov 1, 2006 Class B MESA results are due. See Appendix for a list of Class B Integration Profiles. Enter these in Kudu (http://ihe-kudu.wustl.edu/na2007).
Nov 1 Digital certificates published for systems who have completed Connectathon configuration. Use these for testing with NIST and for Connectathon testing.
Dec 1, 2006 Class C MESA results are due. See Appendix for a list of Class C Integration Profiles.
Dec 1, 2006 Configuration information due for all participants in NA 2007 Connectathon. Enter these in Kudu (http://ihe-kudu.wustl.edu/na2007).
Jan 15, 2007 System setup begins at 8:30. Connectathon testing begins promptly at 11:00. Participants are responsible for knowing network information and connecting to network.
Jan 16-17, 2007 Connectathon Conference program takes place, including organized tours of testing area by conference participants
Jan 19, 2007 Connectathon ends promptly at 12:00.
