Logistics

Attending: Eugene, Ernest, Oliver, Chris

Any issues with last weeks summary?

  • no issues

4.5 discussion

Eugene noted last week the final M3 candidate was done and that downstream consumers have picked it up

  • currently a few defects are being investigated but there are no immediate plans for M4 yet

4.6 discussion

Eugene noted that we kicked of test pass 1 last week.

  • Monday we had build w/o IPF because of some script issues
  • Since then we have had 2 builds with IPF
    • Team continues to work thru some regressions regarding builds
  • According to the latest test report we are33% complete.
    • There are questions out on the IBM side to make sure that can finish this week.
    • Eugene notes that he has gotton some test results from Intel and have not gotten any suggestion that there will be issues finishing the test pass on schedule.

POG effort discussion

Eugene earlier sent mail out to users asking for feedback after the last round of changes but didn't get a response

  • He would like to get input on experiences with 4.6.
  • Oliver wonders what profilers developers using Eclipse are using since not many are particularly integrated with Eclipse
    • Ernest suggests that Yourkit might be popular and it does provides some minimal integration with eclipse.

Oliver wonders if we might want to reconsider bundling TPTP with WTP to try to get more users onboard after the last round of usability changes.

  • Oliver thinks Dave Williams would probably be willing to consider TPTP for inclusion if we're into supporting it.
  • Eugene thinks that would be good for POC but is not sure about resourcing overheads at this time

Eugene mentioned that it might be helpful to write an article for wider distribution on the Eclipse site. Valentina had some ideas about this in the past.

  • Previous TPTP articles were pretty general "Java and profiling" and didn't necessarily focus on particular segments (like server profiling or other such areas)

Misc

Oliver asked if there is any update on the Itanium front since last week.

  • No update.
  • Oliver asks if there is anyone that he should send a message to as the TPTP chair to possible help break the bottleneck?
  • Chris said that he and Judy would brainstorm this idea and decide who the right recipients might be.
